Nourish London Arnica Massage Balm

It's been a little while since I've posted about Nourish London, but their newest launch caught my attention.

The organic brand has just released a trio of Massage Balms, each designed to address specific needs. The Eucalyptus Massage Balm is designed to clear and refresh the senses (perfect for seasonal colds), the Soothing Massage Balm aids relaxation, and the *Arnica Massage Balm relieves aches and pains, but also has quite a few other benefits that I'm about to delve into.

Each balm comes in a dinky, handbag-friendly 15ml glass jar (you don't need a lot) and retails for £10 each at nourishskinrange.com

I have been trying the Arnica Massage Balm for a couple of weeks and so far my whole family has used it. My daughter was actually the first to try the balm - she slipped over recently and bumped her cheek so I suggested we apply a little. She's now so obsessed with the ginger, lavender and rosemary scent that she'll often ask for a smudge of the 'magic cream' for no reason at all.

Why Arnica Is a Game-Changer

Arnica has been cherished for centuries for its anti-inflammatory properties and its ability to ease bruising and sore muscles. This powerful herb works by stimulating the body’s natural healing processes, helping to reduce swelling, relieve pain, and promote faster recovery.

But Arnica’s magic doesn’t stop there—it’s also fantastic for improving circulation, which can be especially beneficial after intense physical activity. By boosting blood flow to affected areas, Arnica helps your muscles recover more efficiently, reducing stiffness and discomfort.

Nourish London Arnica Massage Balm

What sets this massage balm apart is its thoughtful blend of skin-nourishing ingredients:

  • Essential Oils of Lavender, Rosemary, and Ginger
These soothing oils not only provide a calming, spa-like aroma but also contribute their own therapeutic benefits. Lavender is known for relaxation, Rosemary enhances circulation, and Ginger brings warmth to relieve tension.

  • Deep Tissue Relief
Perfect for a deep tissue massage, this balm allows for smooth application, targeting those hard-working muscles and delivering instant relief where you need it most.

  • Skin-Nourishing Oils
While it’s working wonders on your muscles, this balm is also pampering your skin, leaving it soft, supple, and well-nourished.

When to Use It

  • Post-Workout Recovery: After a challenging workout, apply the balm to tired muscles to speed up recovery and ease soreness.
  • After a Long Day: Unwind and relax with a gentle massage using this balm—it’s a treat for both your body and mind.
  • For Bruises or Swelling: Thanks to Arnica’s natural healing properties, this balm is perfect for targeted relief on bruised or swollen areas.

A Must-Have in Your Wellness Routine

The Nourish London Arnica Massage Balm is more than just a recovery aid; it’s a self-care essential. Whether you’re a gym-goer looking for post-exercise relief, have accident-prone little ones, or you're just in need of a little TLC after a stressful day, this balm is a versatile addition to your self-care stash

Boots False Nails Review

*This post may contain affiliate links
I feel like someone needs to talk about Boots brand false nails. I think they’re such a good value option for an instant manicure in a pinch and I rarely see them on social media for some reason, so thought I’d write my own review in the hopes it might encourage more people to give them a go. If, like me, you’re lacking in the nail growth department but also lack the time, money and inclination to get your nails done frequently, diy press-on and glue-on nails can be a really good shout.

I’ve been using glue-on fake nails on and off for the best part of twenty years now and have tried a lot of different brands. Elegant Touch, Kiss, Broadway and Superdrug false nails have all served me well but there’s definitely a standout brand for me that ticks all the boxes – Boots! I buy the standard pre-polished square nails but there are a variety available including different lengths, shapes and colours, as well as a big ol’ box of completely bare nails you can polish or decorate yourself. The standard nails are the perfect length for me as I type on a laptop most days and have one nappy-clad child so I personally can’t cope with long nails (shout out to all those mummas with gorgeous long nails that get by just fine!) I also get especially frustrated by long thumb nails so the shorter length of these is ideal. If you have particularly long nail beds (or lengthy nails already) these might even be too short for you.

My favourite colour in the range is probably Regal Oxblood – a beautiful deep red – but there are plenty of options, including the blue set I have on in the images, as well as patterned nails.

How to Apply Glue-On Nails

If you’re reading this you are probably already aware of how to apply fake nails using glue but I’ll tell you anyway! Take a bit of time ‘trying on’ the different sizes so you can find the best fit for each of your nails. If I’m feeling particularly organised, which is virtually never, I’ll lay out the nails I’ve chosen in some kind of order. This is so I can then go in and just concentrate on gluing them on without worrying about digging through the pack to find the next size I need while glue is still setting. Then, if you have a a little nail file handy, gently buff the top of each of your natural nails. You want to take some of the shine off and rough up the surface a little. This will help the glue adhere and increase the longevity of your nail set, so it’s worth doing this little step if you can. It’s also important to start with clean, dry hands and nails.

When you’re ready to apply, add a drop of glue to the underside of the artificial nail and spread it out quickly using the glue nozzle (or do as I do and apply a small blob and see what happens), then carefully press the false nail down onto your natural nail, holding it in place for around ten seconds to allow time for the glue to bond. The Boots branded glue that comes with the nails is pretty decent itself and dries quickly BUT I would be fibbing if I said it wasn’t the best glue for falsies I’ve used. The Elegant Touch glue is slightly superior in terms of longevity, so if you find that the Boots glue doesn’t give you the hold you want (as in, past a few days), give the Elegant Touch one a try.

Do Boots False Nails Last?

Once you’ve glued all of your nails down you should be good to go! That’s what I love about these nails, once they’re on, they’re perfect – I don’t need to file them down to make my life easier, even the thumbs! Even though they are designed to last up to 7 days, I’ve had these nails last literal weeks on my hands and I’m not a person who bothers with gloves for the washing up but I am a person who will use my nails for opening ring pulls and breaking down cardboard boxes. Hopefully you get the gist, these are sturdy.

In case you’re wondering how to take them off, official instructions state to trim the nails down and soak in acetone to soften the glue. I’m not going to pretend that I’ve ever done this for stick-ons but I am going to pretend that I don’t pick and peel them off when I want them done. That would be irresponsible and potentially damage the natural nails…

Boots Polished Nails come in packs of 24 and retail for £5.50 but they’re usually on sale or part of some kind of deal – the ones I’m wearing now set me back £2.20 as they had a special Clubcard price.

Top Side Hustles to Boost That Bank Balance

 (Collaborative post)

With the diverse range of side hustles available today, there's something for everyone. Whether you're looking for a low-maintenance option like affiliate marketing that runs in the background or you want to unleash your creativity and innovation, the possibilities are endless. The only requirement for a side hustle is that it should bring in extra income.

AllDayPA found that over 30% of full-time working Brits have a side hustle, with the majority of side hustlers being from Gen Z. Utility Warehouse found that 47% of people plan to have a side hustle by the end of 2025.

If you're looking for ways to boost your bank balance, these ideas could be exactly what you're looking for.

Refunds

While it's not a job in the strictest sense, it does require time and patience to review all of your financial decisions and activities to find out that all transactions were legitimate for you at that moment in time. This can be a full time task on its own, but these days, there are many ads and services available to help you discover if you have been mis-sold something and are entitled to a refund.

It could be that you were mis-sold a payment protection plan or policy on your financial benefits or decisions on car payment agreements. You might have legitimate PCP & HP claims to make on past car finance agreements; you could have been mis-sold loans, certain bank accounts, credit cards, etc. The list goes on. Taking time to understand what actions are in process for you to make a claim can be laborious. And if you can make a claim, the result can be worth your time and investment.

Driving Jobs

Driving jobs, such as being a delivery driver for services like Evri or food delivery services, can be a great way to utilise your vehicle in your free time. While the income may not be substantial at first, with time and experience, you can increase your delivery times and see a significant growth in your earnings. For those with easy access to a vehicle, a delivery job or other driving jobs, such as Uber driving, can be a lucrative side hustle. For instance, driving for Uber only on weekend nights to local nightlife areas can be a profitable venture without consuming too much of your time outside your full-time job.

VA

VAs are virtual assistants, and they provide a wide range of services. You simply need other skills that others don't have or aren’t efficient in, and can be useful. Things like content creation, website maintenance, administration duties, call handling, social media creation, scheduling and more are all great skills for VAs to have. All you need to do is look at what skills you have and how you can use them to help others and provide a valuable service that people are willing to pay for. Plus, the beauty is that you can work from home and set your own hours, so it works for you and your client.

Pet Hustles

This one means getting your pet out with you and using them for a side hustle, although in some ways, this would be a great idea. Pet social media accounts are taking the world by storm, and pets are the new kid influencers. If you have the right skills and aesthetic, it can be a lucrative money spinner.

Pet-related side hustles, however, involve you offering services to other pet owners. Some of these options might require training, certifications, or registration with your local council, but offering services such as pet sitting, walking, or boarding can help you make money with ease if you are a dog lover or can care for another type of pet. You can create dog accessories, sell pet treats, or offer dog training if you are skilled in this. You can immerse yourself in the pet arena in numerous ways to develop lucrative side hustles.

Tutoring

Tutoring isn't just reserved for teachers, although it's an excellent year for educators to boost their income, too. You can tutor in different areas, such as art, music, or any other area in which you have expertise. Maybe you are fluent in BSL. This is a valuable skill you can use to teach others who need to learn sign language. You can teach English to non-native English speakers; you can tutor people in areas you are skilled in, such as coding, for example, or even certain crafts. It is entirely up to you and your skills.

Boost Your Productivity with these Game-Changing Tech Tools

 (Collaborative post)

Modern life demands productivity, whether that means working remotely from home, running a side hustle, or just trying to tackle your daily to-do list. Technology has allowed us to work smarter, not harder. From streamlining tasks to managing focus, these game-changing tech tools will help maximize every moment of every day and reduce procrastination. Here is a breakdown of some revolutionary tools designed to increase productivity while keeping procrastination at bay.

Task Management Apps: Your Digital To-Do List

A good task management tool makes juggling daily responsibilities much simpler. Apps like Todoist, Trello and Asana allow you to organize tasks into intuitive boards or lists with due dates and reminders so nothing falls through the cracks. These platforms often integrate seamlessly with calendars to provide a bird's-eye view of priorities while satisfying that urge to check off completed tasks.

Focus Apps: Say Goodbye to Distractions

Have you found yourself scrolling social media when you should have been working on that PowerPoint? Try focus apps such as Forest and Focus@Will to keep your focus glued to the task at hand. Forest can gamify productivity by rewarding you for remaining focused, while Focus@Will provides tailored music scientifically proven to promote concentration. Even small changes can lead to drastic increases in output.

Time Management Tools: Master Your Minutes

Time-blocking and scheduling tools such as Google Calendar or Notion can make any day more manageable, by breaking it into digestible pieces that you account for each moment. Those looking for deeper insight may appreciate apps such as RescueTime which track how digital hours are used and provide reports to reveal any time-wasting habits. Remember time is non-refundable, so spend it wisely.

Note-Taking Apps: Capture Ideas Anywhere

Being able to quickly record thoughts wherever inspiration strikes is a great time saver, which makes apps like Evernote, OneNote and Obsidian fantastic tools for organizing ideas efficiently and saving you time. They feature advanced search functions, plus tags and integration with other applications ensure your creative spark never dies out in vain.

Automation Tools: Work Smarter, Not Harder

Let technology take over repetitive tasks. Automation platforms such as Zapier and IFTTT make connecting apps and services simpler by automatically making them work together without your constant attention needed. For instance saving email attachments directly into cloud storage or sending reminders for approaching deadlines. Investing in automation tools means more energy to focus on those things which really matter.

Health-Boosting Tech: Because You’re Only Productive When You’re Well

Productivity doesn't just come from tools to organize your work, it also comes from taking care of yourself. Wearables like Fitbit or a reconditioned Apple Watch Ultra can help promote physical activity, improved sleep patterns, mindfulness and meditation, all which contribute to higher productivity. Don't discount smart water bottles (yes, there is such a thing), as they remind us to remain hydrated throughout the day for maximum body and brain benefit.

Conclusion

Modern technology has opened up an abundance of tools, but the key to true productivity lies in selecting those that align with your goals and lifestyle. Implementing even a handful of the apps or devices we discussed could streamline your routine, improve focus, and free up more time for what matters most. Remember productivity isn't about doing more, it is about doing what matters efficiently. Now go forth and conquer your day like the productivity expert

 you were meant to be.

4 Things to Wear for Eid

 (Collaborative post)

Eid is one of the most celebrated and joyful times of the year. It's a time for prayer, family, food and of course fashion dressing up for Eid as part of the fun, and everybody loves to step out in something that feels a little extra special at this time of the year. You can be as traditional or as trendy as you like because there's no one way to dress for Eid.

Whether you're heading to the mosque, visiting family, or hosting A festive dinner, your outfit should make you feel confident, comfortable, and totally celebratory. If you're still wondering what to wear, don't worry, we've got you covered. Here are four things that you can wear for Eid that will help you to look and feel great.

-A classic abaya dress. Elegant, flowing and modest, the abaya is a go to piece for many women during Eid. The best part is that it can be as simple or as glamorous as you want it to be. For a classic look, choose a black or a neutral toned abaya with minimal embroidery. If you want to be more festive, pick an abaya with lace, beading or colourful prints. You could add a matching hijab or scarf, some pretty earrings and you're good to go. Abaya dresses are not just comfortable, but they are only so beautiful and the material is so nice. They're perfect for a day that involves a lot of visiting, eating and maybe even chasing after the kids.

-A chic Maxi dress. If you love long, flowy outfits but you want something a little bit more casual or contemporary, maxi dresses are a great option. You can choose one in soft pastels, floral prints, or even a dual tone for a festive flair. Layer it with a light cardigan for a modest touch. Maxi dresses are easy to dress up or down too, depending on your plans. You can throw on some heels or embellish sandals, grab a clutch and you've got yourself an Eid look that's effortless and elegant.

-A stylish salwar kameez. A favorite in South Asian culture, the salwar kameez is another amazing option for Eid. It typically includes a long tunic (the kameez), loose trousers, (the salwar) and a matching dupatta (scarf). The combinations are endless and the styles range from traditional to modern. For Eid, always pick up bright colours, sparkly details or hand embroidery to give your outfit that festive flair. With bangles, jhumkas and a little henna on your hands to complete the look, you're going to be looking beautiful.

-A coordinated family outfit, This one is especially fun if you're celebrating with kids or as a couple. Pick a colour theme, maybe Blues or neutrals or soft pinks, and coordinate your outfits with each other. You can wear a stunning abaya dress and your family can match in similar shades or complimentary patterns. It makes for beautiful family photos and brings a sweet sense of unity to your celebration.

3 Simple Ways to Change your Appearance

(collaborative post)

There are times in everyone’s lives when they’re not too proud of their appearance. They could want to look a little different, and you could be in that position. You’ll want to change your appearance, but you might think that has to mean a large transformation.

That doesn’t always have to be the case. Instead, there are more than a few simple ways you can do this. They shouldn’t have to take much time or effort, but they’ll have a noticeable impact on your appearance. Three of these could be more than worth trying.

Find Colours That Complement You

Colours play much more of a role in your appearance than you’d think. You’ll see this with the clothes you wear, the makeup you put on, your hair colour, and more. It’s worth making sure you go for the right colours for you. There could be a bit to keep in mind with this.

Some colours will complement your eyes, skin tone, and other areas more than other colours will. It’s worth figuring out which colours compliment you best. That way, you can adjust the clothes you wear, the kind of makeup you wear, and similar areas. It’s worth figuring out.

Change Your Hair

Changing your hair is always a great way to change your appearance. It’ll have a noticeable impact, and you don’t even need to make too much of a change to notice the difference. You’ll also have plenty of options to go for with this, like getting Brazilian hair extensions. It’s worth thinking about.

Go with what you like and what makes you feel more confidence in your appearance. While that could mean experimenting a little bit, it’ll still be more than worth it. Getting your hairdresser’s appearance should be more than enough to help figure out what you should go with.

Update Your Wardrobe

One of the easiest ways to switch up your appearance is to change the kind of clothes you wear. It’s worth putting the time and effort into updating your wardrobe a bit. Go through it and get rid of any clothes you don’t like or wear anymore so you can free up some space.

After that, you just need to find some new clothes that suit you perfectly. Take your time to consider clothes before you buy them, and avoid getting something just because it’s on sale. Sticking with the colours that compliment your appearance helps with this quite a bit.

When you want to change your appearance, you might think it has to take a lot of time and effort. You might assume it needs to be a complete transformation. That doesn’t always need to be the case. Quite the opposite. There are more than a few simple changes you can make.

Despite being relatively simple, they’ll have more of an impact on your appearance than you’d think. With a little bit of an effort, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t see a significant impact on how you look. They’re more than worth trying.

How to Help your Man Level Up His Style

 (Collaborative Post)

Many men have the luxury of not having to think too hard about fashion, going through life easily so long as they make sure they fit the occasion. However, for those men not inclined to pay close attention to their wardrobe, help is available. Whether your man is in a style rut, hesitant to experiment, or just doesn’t know the first thing about putting together a look, you can give him the guidance necessary to dress in a way that impresses, enhances his own character, and makes him feel great.

Find The Right Men’s Fashion Stores

Start by looking at where he shops and helping him better explore his options. A lot of men don’t enjoy shopping, and stick to the same brands out of habit. Helping him find the men’s fashion stores in his area that cater to his style and budget can help make shopping a lot easier for him. Shopping in the right places ensures he has access to well-crafted pieces that elevate his everyday look without feeling forced into trends that don’t suit him.

Help Him Dress His Age

A lot of guys find a style they like and stick with it for a very long time. You don’t have to take away his staples, but help him find a balance with more mature wear, such as a well-fitted men’s wool gilet in the colder months. Show him the power of quality knitwear, casual shirts, and other more mature looks that can help him look more refined and respectable.

Introduce Him To Accessories

Accessories can upgrade the style of an outfit with very little effort, but many men overlook how much power these little details have. Finding the right accessories for his outfits, whether a sleek leather belt, classic watch, or even a pair of simple but stylish sunglasses, can do a lot. Aim for the timeless over the trendy, as it will be easier for him to find his confidence with the true and tested.

Fit Is Key

If clothing doesn’t fit well, it doesn’t matter how expensive or in style it is. A lot of men wear clothes that are too loose or tight, especially when it comes to formal or business wear. Get a few of his favourite pieces fitted (with his permission) to show him what a difference it can make.

Make Him Feel Good About It

If you want a good thing to stick, then you have to reinforce it. Improving one’s fashion is about unlocking confidence, comfort, and character. Try to avoid making the process stressful, and be sure to offer genuine complements when he’s looking great. Let him explore at a more comfortable pace and he’ll naturally gain more interest in building his personal style.

Remember, intention is important when you’re helping out. The tips above can practically improve your man’s dress sense, but you have to make sure you’re doing it for the right reasons. Then you can better enjoy the confidence and charisma it helps him unlock.

Why New Online Stores Often Have Trouble Gaining Legitimacy

 (Collaborative Post)

We’re all aware of how many scams there are online. As a website owner, it’s a trend you don’t want to fall prey to or be grouped in with. However, there’s a real issue around new online stores being seen as untrustworthy. This can be for a variety of reasons, but the three below tend to be most common.

The Website Looks Off

Creative website design is a great way to set your site apart from any other retailers in the same niche, but you don’t want to scare your traffic away by being too out there. You need the site to still be easy to navigate and accessibly readable, but you also want to be eye-catching and memorable.

It’s a fine line to balance, but it’s one you can experiment with and see what your traffic really thinks. If you’re noticing people bouncing off more than usual, there may be something wrong with the current layout. Alternatively, if your site’s retention is higher, you might have struck the jackpot with the design you’ve gone for.

Long Delivery Times Look Suspicious

The longer an item takes to arrive, the lower a customer’s confidence. Even if you’re set up and ready to take orders, you’ll need to make sure your delivery partner is just as sound.

You need to know your products can be packaged and shipped ASAP. No one wants to wait more than 3 to 5 days for their new dress to arrive! Take this into hand from the moment you open up your new store by being transparent about the length of the process, as well as the ways someone can complain if they have a problem.

Your shipment options need to accurately reflect delivery times. Indeed, if a customer pays premium for next day delivery, it’s important to act within this timeframe. Otherwise, your storefront could very easily be labeled a scam.

It’s Easier to Take Risks on Low Quality Products

You want your store to be up and running in as little time as possible, and that sometimes means padding out your product catalogue with items that cost little and are easy to ship. However, in doing so, you’re taking risks on low quality, potentially unsustainable products. This isn’t the thing to do if you want your customers to trust you!

Take your time in finding the right items to list on your website. If you’re a new fashion house, shop around for a reliable womens wholesale clothing supplier before submitting any orders. If you’re selling handmade vases and urns, make sure you’re working with strong materials like clay, glass, and stone that have been sourced ethically and responsibly.

Don’t take a chance on your supply chain. It may cost more right now, but you’re more likely to attract and retain repeat custom, good reviews, and very few refunds from something ripping or breaking in transit!

Got an idea for an online store? Build a good reputation by avoiding the mistakes above.

Why It’s Important To Take Care Of Your Skin

 (Collaborative Post)

When you think about it, your skin does ever such a lot for you - it’s your body’s largest organ, your first line of defence, and it makes you look and feel good, so it’s clearly an important thing to be aware of and, of course, take care of. The problem is that a lot of the time we don’t really think about our skin that much unless we’re applying cream or makeup, perhaps. But it does so much, from dealing with harsh winters to handling the food choices we make (good and bad), and the fact is that our skin actually deserves better.

You really need to think of your skin as a kind of armour, protecting you from all kinds of things like harmful UV rays, pollution, and other nasties. At the same time, it’s also working hard to keep moisture in, regulate temperature, and even act as a sensory organ, so why do we take it for granted and just put on some moisturiser and hope for the best? The fact is your skin needs some TLC to do its job well, and neglecting it can lead to premature ageing, dryness, and irritation. So with that in mind, let’s take a look at why it’s important to take care of your skin.

Your Emotions

Have you ever noticed how you feel when your skin is glowing? This isn’t just about vanity - good skin literally boosts your mood and makes you feel amazing, and that confidence then glows out for everyone to see. Radiant skin can turn a bad day into a good one and ensure that you always see the positive side of things, including spotting important opportunities, and that’s exciting and pretty impressive - who knew there was such an emotional side to your skin?

Of course, on the other hand, when your skin isn’t looking so great and it’s acting up by giving you acne, red patches, being dry, and so on, you’ll feel bad about yourself and you’ll want to hide away - those opportunities you might otherwise have grabbed will just pass you by. So in the end, taking care of your skin isn’t just about your appearance - it’s about self-care, and that’s vital to get right.

What Does Taking Care Of Your Skin Really Mean?

So it’s clear that taking care of your skin is important for a variety of reasons, and when you do it it can really make a big difference in your life - in a good way. But how can you do it? Well, skincare is very often going to be different for everyone because everyone’s skin is different, we all have different amounts of time to spend looking after ourselves, and we all have a different budget. However, there are some things that everyone can do, and here are some to get you started.

To begin with, cleansing is vital, and that’s something everyone can do - you’re essentially washing your face. However, rather than (or as well as) using soap and water, you should use a gentle cleanser to remove dirt, oil, and makeup, as that’s going to keep your skin healthier. Then you should moisturise your skin (even if it’s oily - it still needs hydration). And when you leave the house (or just as a matter of course when you’re putting on moisturiser) you’ve got to wear sunscreen, even if it’s not a particularly sunny day - the UV rays from the sun can cause damage through cloud cover, and although you might not feel it burning like you would on a hot day, damage can still be done.

On top of that routine, which everyone can and should do every day, you might want to take some additional steps, and perhaps visit some professionals for advice and treatments. Visiting the best cosmetic clinic can make a world of difference, especially if you’re dealing with stubborn issues like acne scars, wrinkles, or issues with pigmentation, for example. These clinics have the tools, expertise, and professionals who’ll know exactly what to do to get your skin back on track.

The Science Of Your Skin

Here’s a bit of skin-related trivia for you: your skin actually renews itself every 28 days. That means you have a fresh chance every month to make it look great and healthy, so that’s exciting. The issue is that as we age, this process does slow down, and that’s why it’s so important to give yourself some extra help like exfoliation, hydration, and good skincare products that contain things like retinol and hyaluronic acid.

The key thing to remember is that skin care isn’t a battle - it’s about working with the skin you have (which can change over time, so you need to be aware of it). You’ve got to be gentle, you’ve got to use the right products, and you often need a bit of patience to help your skin really glow and look its best. However, once you hit on the right combination of products and care (for now, at least - as we said, things change), your skin will improve and you’ll see the difference so you’ll know you’re on the right track.

It’s Not Just About Your Face

It’s easy to forget that skincare isn’t just about your face - that’s just the most visible part of your skin, but you still need to take care of the parts that aren’t so visible, including your neck, hands, and basically everywhere else.

The good news is there are plenty of different products you can use to give yourself an all-over skincare routine, like body scrubs, hydrating lotions, and SPF again - it’s so important.

The truth is that good skincare is really all about prevention, so you can’t ignore it - the more you take care of yourself, the healthier, happier, and safer you’ll be in the future, and that’s got to be worth doing. Regular care, sunscreen, and occasional visits to experts to boost your look and give you some advice is definitely the right way to go.

Nail Care Tips you Need to Know

 (Collaborative Post)

Let’s be honest: we all want nails that look like we’ve just stepped out of a salon – without the constant threat of smudging them five minutes later, or worse, chipping them on the car door as we leave. Whether you're a die-hard nail art fan or just trying to keep things neat and tidy, keeping your nails in tip-top shape doesn't have to be as hard as it seems. Here are some quick and effective tips to keep those claws in check.

Hydration is Key (And Not Just for Your Skin)

Everyone bangs on about drinking water for glowing skin, but your nails need a bit of moisture, too. No, this doesn’t mean dunking your hands in a glass of H2O. Get yourself a good cuticle oil (and actually use it). Apply it regularly to avoid that dried-out, jagged cuticle situation that makes your hands look like you’ve been digging in the garden – with your bare hands. Your nails will thank you by looking healthier and less prone to breakage.

Trim, Buff, Repeat

There’s a reason nail salons spend ages buffing away: it works. Buffing your nails not only smooths them out but also boosts circulation to the nail bed, which helps your nails grow stronger. Plus, it feels oddly satisfying. Just don’t go overboard or you’ll file away more nail than intended – you’re not trying to launch a new minimalist trend here. Trim your nails regularly, too. Long nails are great, but if they're more ‘witchy claw’ than chic, it's time for a little snip.

Nail Polish: Friend or Foe?

We love nail polish as much as the next person, but take it easy. Your nails need the occasional breather. Constantly wearing polish without a break can leave them yellowed, brittle, and looking a bit worse for wear – like they’ve been on a two-week bender. Give them a polish-free holiday every now and then, and they’ll stay stronger and healthier for it.

Builder Gels: Your Secret Weapon (But Don’t Go Overboard)

For those of us whose nails snap at the mere sight of a keyboard, builder gels can be a lifesaver. They add that bit of strength without making you feel like you’re wearing a suit of armour on your fingers. But a word of caution – builder gels are not an excuse to see how many heavy-duty chores you can get away with. Treat them nicely, and they’ll keep your nails looking flawless for weeks.

File In One Direction (Not The Band)

This one’s important: stop sawing your nails back and forth like you're trying to start a campfire. That only weakens the nail and invites splitting. File in one direction for a smooth edge and stronger nails – unless you want to accidentally create a few jagged corners to catch on your jumper. If so, saw away, my friend.

Gloves Are Your New BFF

We get it, gloves aren’t the most glamorous of accessories, but when it comes to household chores, they’re essential. Washing dishes or scrubbing floors without gloves is basically asking for dry, brittle nails that scream neglect. Pop on a pair of rubber gloves and save your hands – and your nails – from a cleaning-induced breakdown.

How to Try Out a New Look

 (Collaborative Post)

Whether you’re looking to feel happier in your own skin or want to boost your confidence, trying out a new look is a great starting point.

However, if you’ve been rocking the same clothes, make-up and hairstyle for some time, it can be difficult to know where to begin - which is where this guide can come in handy.

Seek out some inspiration. The first step toward pulling off a new look is to have an idea in mind of what you are aiming for. This means that you can then take inspiration pictures to your hairdresser or have a specific aesthetic in mind when shopping for new clothes. Pinterest is a great place to start, though you may also be inspired by your Instagram feed!

Try out coloured contact. Wearing different coloured contacts, such as brown contact lenses, is a relatively easy yet impactful way to change up your appearance. Furthermore, when cared for correctly, these lenses can last up to you for a year!

Start with a fresh canvas. Whether you’re going to amp up your makeup game by starting to wear brighter, bolder colours or you’re going for a more stripped-back look, giving yourself a fresh canvas to work is always advisable. This means that you may want to spend some time perfecting your skincare routine so that you can restore a natural, youthful glow. By removing blemishes or dryness, your makeup will always look clean and professional.

Change your hairstyle. Changing your hairstyle is another great way to change your appearance. However, this does not necessarily mean you need to reach for those scissors. For example, you may want to try styling your hair in a slightly different way - such as by trying out a slick back bun if you usually wear your hair down. If you’re looking for a bolder transition, consider dying your hair.

Try colour analysis. Whether you’re buying new outfits or trying to decide what colour eyeshadow suits you best, getting a colour analysis can prove to be incredibly useful. This will help you to figure out which shades and tones complement your complexion the most so that you’ll start to feel much more confident in your appearance.

Consider shopping second-hand. One of the biggest challenges associated with trying out a new look is having enough money to do so. After all, it could mean that you’re looking to replenish your entire wardrobe, which can quickly get expensive. However, you can save money on this task by shopping second-hand.

For example, you could start by browsing online reselling groups, such as Facebook Marketplace, Vinted, and Depop. Here, you can search for specific items and designers, meaning that you may be able to get your hands on high-end items for an incredibly low price.

Alternatively, you could browse local charity shops for clothes that match your desired aesthetic. This way, you’re saving a considerable amount of money while also supporting a good cause! Remember, you can also tailor items that arne’t in your size!

Incredibly Affordable Retinol Products from Biovène

Have you heard of Biovène Barcelona? This cruelty free beauty brand is all about effective formulas at accessible price points and these two retinol products have made want to try more from the brand.

The *Retinol Night Lift Power Tightening Night Cream is formulated with Retinol, and Strawberry and Cherry extracts to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, brighten, and fight free radicals.

The *Retinol and Squalane Serum is a blend of nourishing Squalane and 1% Retinol, designed to promote elasticity and collagen production, brighten dark spots, smooth wrinkles and fine lines and combat blemishes.

Both products have a luxurious texture and are a real pleasure to use, but the serum is my pick of the two and it sits beautifully under a thick night cream.

Results I've noticed so far after around 6 weeks of using the serum consistently every night include softer skin and a slight reduction in the pigmentation on my forehead that I've had since pregnancy. It's also worth mentioning that the hormonal spots I get on my chin and cheeks every month have disappeared a lot faster than usual.
In fact, now that I think about it, my skin is clearer in general than it has been in a long while. I've never really had much of an issue with pimples or very visible black heads, until recent months when I had noticed a bit of an increase in congestion and spots. It may be coincidence, and my skin has settled down on its own, or it could be down to the Biovène serum. Either way, I'm pretty happy with the overall texture and clarity of my complexion at this moment, so I'm inclined to purchase a bottle once this one runs out. As if mentioned, I've used it consistently every night, so it's worth noting that this has not irritated my skin at all - maybe a little sting when applied immediately after cleansing at the beginning, when I first started using it, but now it just feels like applying, say, a hyaluronic acid serum or something else that doesn't traditionally irritate. I guess my skin likes the mix of Retinol and Squalane?

The cream retails for £14.99 and the serum at £5.99 for 50ml and 30ml respectively. I'm actually delighted to find a retinol product I like for £5.99! Incredibly affordable and certainly worth a try. Find them at Morrison's, Just My Look and biovenebarcelona.com

Ultra Violette SPF 50 Daydream Screen

 (affiliate links)

Ultra Violette came to the UK market a couple of years ago now and if you’re an avid reader of beauty blogs in general, you’re probably already familiar with the Australian brand. They’ve trademarked the term ‘Skinscreen’, which is a combination of skincare and sunscreen and a concept I am very much here for.

Ultra Violette have plenty of SPF and related products available but as I’m about to finish my Chanel tinted moisturiser and wanted a tinted high protection SPF, my first experience with the brand comes in the form of this: The Daydream Screen Tinted Veil.

I went for a colour match in Space NK and was matched to V2, which seems to suit my complexion pretty well though I have a feeling it’s going to look a little pale come summer. The colour spectrum for this product is actually quite good – it’s good to see the darkest shade is designed to blend into actual dark skin, not white-person-with-a-tan-dark.

The formula is lightweight, almost serum-like, but buildable, so you can customise how much coverage you would like. On application, Daydream blends in nicely and, although it feels slightly tacky and ‘sunscreeny’ at first, it does end up feeling pretty weightless once it settles. The fragrance free formula contains plant-derived Pentivitin (Saccharide Isomerate), a hydrating extract that boosts skin’s hydration levels and protects against environmental damage. The SPF is also free from Silicone, Oils and Alcohol.

This product makes my skin look healthy and even with a little bit of a glow and I would certainly wear it after the sun goes down too as my make up base. There's no pilling or rolling and I didn't notice any obvious separation, though I confess I didn't scrutinise it with a magnifying mirror or anything like that.

Even though it offers broad spectrum SPF50 UVA and UVB protection, Ultra Violette recommend to not rely on Daydream alone for your sun protection. In fact, it’s designed as a secondary sunscreen/makeup hybrid to apply after your daily sunscreen. I wish I had researched a little more before I purchased because I was after an SPF with a bit of a tint, not a skin tint with SPF, if you know what I mean. Applying a ¼ teaspoon of Daydream to your face would not result in a barely-there-glowing look and would probably even feel a little uncomfortable on the skin so it does make sense when you look at it that way. It’s worth mentioning that I really like the bottle – it’s nice and soft, easy to squeeze, with a narrow nozzle that delivers a custom amount of product.

As a side note, the box of the SPF says SPF 50+ Daydream Screen Tinted Veil while the bottle says SPF 50 Dream Screen Tinted Veil. I’m not sure why there is a discrepancy there, it’s just something I noticed!

I bought my bottle of Ultra Violette SPF 50 Dream Screen Tinted Veil from Space NK for £38 for 50ml.

3 Alternative, Natural Ways to Look After Your Skin

Collaborative post

Everyone wants their skin to look and feel as nice as possible, but they often don’t know what they’re doing. A skincare routine can be great, but many products can be filled with chemicals people mightn’t want to use.

If you want to look after your skin while avoiding any harmful ingredients and chemicals, you could feel like you don’t have many options. Thankfully, there are more than a few things you could do. Three of these can help a lot more than you’d think.

Look After Your Skin: 3 Alternative, Natural Ways

1. Hydrate Often

One of the best things you can do for your skin is to make sure you’re as hydrated as possible. Dehydration leads to more than a few issues with your skin, with dry patches just being the tip of the iceberg. It’s worth avoiding these as much as you can.

At least seven or eight glasses of water a day is recommended. If you exercise regularly, then you’ll need much more than this. You shouldn’t have to go out of your way to do this, so you’ve no reason not to drink enough water every day.

2. Control Your Stress Levels

Stress plays a large role in how you feel, but it can have an impact on how your skin looks, too. It’s worth cutting down on this as much as you can, and there are plenty of ways you can do that. If you’re taking medical cannabis or CBD, then lowering your stress levels could be a welcome side effect.

There’s also yoga, meditation, and more than a few similar techniques. The better you’re able to deal with your stress, the better your skin should look. There’s no reason why you shouldn’t put some time and effort into it.

3. Cut Down On Fast Food

Fast food is more popular than ever, despite the fact it can be unhealthy for you. This doesn’t just affect your health, however, and obesity is far from the only thing you risk by eating it a lot. It can also have a serious impact on your skin and how it looks.

It’ll make your skin look greasy, and it can even lead to minor skin irritations when eaten too much. Cut down on this as much as you can to avoid that. You’ll also help with your overall health, so you’ve no reason not to cut down on it or avoid it completely.

Look After Your Skin: Wrapping Up

Trying to look after your skin can feel like a chore at the best of times, but it can be more confusing when you’re trying to avoid harmful ingredients and chemicals. Thankfully, this doesn’t need to be as complicated as you could think.

By using a few particular strategies, you shouldn’t have a problem doing this. While it can still take a little time, it shouldn’t be as confusing or as complicated as you could think. You’ll have healthy skin that looks and feels great before you know it.

Everlasting Brows NEW Double Sided Eyeliner Pencil

 (sample)

I had been thinking about buying a new eyeliner for a few weeks (I know this is a lot of time to spend pondering something so menial) before I was gifted the Everlasting Eye-Edge Double Sided Eye Pencil from Everlasting Brows. I was after something that was easy to work with and versatile, with good staying power and decent pigment, and it just so happens that this eye pencil ticks all those boxes.

Made in Italy, the eyeliner feels like it’s of very decent quality and, at a similar price point to many big-name-brand eyeliners you’ll find in Boots or Superdrug, I think it’s fantastic value too. The eye pencil is currently available in Heavenly Black and Glitter, with a rich black shade at one end and a beautiful, iridescent glitter at the other.

Both shades glide on smoothly, with minimal tugging and the black shade ‘sets’ in a few minutes, so there’s plenty of time to smudge out your line if you’re wanting a smoky look. Equally, the lasting power of the liner means it’d be perfect for a cat eye or extended liner look, though I’ve lost my nerve lately when it comes to creating a cat eye. I’ve used the black pencil on my upper and lower lids and found that it stays put pretty well – I was actually a little amazed that it still clung to my upper lash line and waterline after walking my son to school and back again in the wind and rain last week!

I’m not a very glittery person, so to speak, so I wasn’t sure what to expect from the glitter end of the pencil, but it turns out that it’s one of those ‘fairy wing’ shape-shifting, glowing glitters, that’s sort of holographic and absolutely gorgeous. This glitter will be featured on my eyelids at least once this festive season I think.

If you don’t already know about Everlasting Brows, I’ve written about them before here. The company specialise in professional Microblading and Permanent Makeup, so they know their stuff.

The Everlasting Eye-Edge Double Sided Eye Pencil is £7.95 at Everlasting Brows.

Simple Hydrating Cleansing Oil

(affiliate links)

A decent cleansing oil or balm really should be considered a staple in every bathroom cabinet. Whether you prefer an all natural oil that needs to be removed with a flannel or cloth or a silky balm that emulsifies and turns milky on contact with water, balms and oils are simply the best when it comes to taking off that first layer of makeup, dirt and/or SPF.

The cleansing oil by affordable, no-nonsense skincare brand Simple is a really good option whether you're a skincare enthusiast with plenty of existing products or you're looking to try an oil cleanser for the first time. I've tried my fair share of cleansing balms and oils over the years and this no frills option should, in my opinion, be a staple in everyone's bathroom cabinet.

Formulated with no colour or artificial fragrance, the unscented cleansing oil might seem basic - and it is - but basic is often best, especially when it comes to removing makeup and doing that first cleanse that takes all the grot off your face. If you have sensitive skin then this was made for you as it's hypoallergenic and dermatologically tested and approved for skin that's on the sensitive side. That said, if you don't experience sensitivity then this is still perfect, I think it's that good!

The Simple Hydrating Cleansing Oil is a blend of Grapeseed Oil, Sunflower Seed Oil, emollients and Vitamin A and E. It leaves skin feeling hydrated and comfortable, even before you follow up with serums and moisturisers.

How to use an Oil Cleanser

If you've never tried an oil cleanser before, you might be wondering how best to use one. It's quite simple really (pun?) but the key thing is to make sure you have a dry face and hands to start with. Simple Cleansing Oil is packaged in a recycled plastic bottle that you use by tipping it upside down and squeezing gently to dispense the product. Add a few drops to dry palms, then massage the oil onto a dry face - this oil provides plenty of slip so it's really easy to massage into the skin. Once you've given your face a nice little massage, either rinse with warm water to emulsify or use a wrung-out warm flannel or cloth to remove the oil, taking dirt and makeup with it.
As it's an emulsifying formula, the oil transforms into an easily removed milk once water is added, so it does the job pretty quickly.
When removing mascara and eye makeup, it's a good idea to add a drop or two to a cotton pad or reusable/washable round, press on the eye area gently to help the oil loosen the makeup, then gently wipe away vefore rinsing.

Simple Hydrating Cleansing Oil seems to be pretty widely liked thanks to the effective formula and afforable price point. I'll continue to use it as a first cleanse and leave the pricier, more sensorial cleansers for the second cleanse.

The cleansing oil has an rrp of £6.99 for 125ml but it's often on special at Boots.
