BareMinerals Complexion Rescue - Colour Match at Selfridges

When your boyfriend announces that your makeup looks 'really natural' and 'has a nice glow actually' you know that you're onto a good thing. Especially when said boyfriend is one of the most bluntly honest people on the planet. That's what happened last weekend when we visited Selfridges so I could try out BareMinerals' latest offering, Complexion Rescue.

A few different shades were tried out before it was agreed that no. 3 (Buttercream) was my match and it was blended seamlessly onto my skin while the very helpful sales assistant filled me in on what exactly makes Complexion Rescue so special. Essentially a BB, CC and Tinted Moisturiser in one (!) Complexion Rescue features a composition with pigment on the inside and water on the outside. 'Traditional' tinted moisturisers have pigment on the 'outside' and water on the 'inside'.
This sounds a little bit odd and confusing but basically, the way that Complexion Rescue is formulated means the water in the formula reaches your skin first, before the colour, giving it an instant hit of hydration. This is explained in more detail here.

Whatever the science behind it, I can declare that this stuff delivers. The finish is dewy, fresh and above all very natural. It's quite sheer so if you have freckles and you aint afraid to show them, this is the Spring base for you. If you have a little redness or minor blemishes that you'd like corrected or just want your complexion to look more even, you need to give it a go. If however you're after a heavier base, this won't cut the mustard, though I was told that Complexion Rescue can absolutely be worn under foundation for additional coverage and a dose of hydration.

Complexion Rescue has an RRP of £26 though I have found it on Look Fantastic where it is available for pre-order (released on April 22nd) for £20.50. I'm going to be creating a look using the Complexion Rescue sometime soon so keep an eye out for that!

Diorshow New Look Mascara + Light Painting at Selfridges

The Beauty Hall at Selfridges is undoubtedly one of my favourites to play in and it's events like this one that cement my passion for the place.

On Thursday, I met my parents on Oxford Street for lunch and afterwards I went with mum to the Selfridges Beauty Hall while dad escaped down to the electrical department before I could start cooing at the lipsticks.
We saw that there was some commotion at the Dior counter, so made a beeline over there to have a sneaky peek at what all the fuss was about.

The cause of the excitement was down to a brand new mascara - Diorshow New Look to be exact- and mum and I were given eye makeovers by one of Dior's fantastic makeup artists using the new mascara and Dior's Five Couleurs Eyeshadow palettes.

My beautiful mum!

Me!

Diorshow New Look is one of those 'little brush' mascaras, featuring 2 different types of bristles that promise to capture, volumise and lengthen every lash. I was really quite impressed with the mascara and I'm hoping I'll be able to get my hands on it one day :)

The highlight of the Diorshow New Look promo was the 'Light Painting' photo booth. Mum and I were the first civilians (non-models :o) to be photgraphed in it - a privilege indeed!

The Light Painting works like this:

You get in, have your photo taken, then 'paint' the air with little light pens that look exactly like a Diorshow mascara tube. This is how our photo turned out:

....Not the best photo, but you get the idea :)

Interested in trying out Diorshow New Look and throwing a pose in the Light Painting booth? Head on down to Selfridges London before the 31st of March and try it for yourself :D

P.S. Dior have just released a heated eyelash curler, exclusive to Selfridges! It's battery powered, very portable and rather chic indeed!

See it, Want it...Can I Have It???

I saw this in Selfridges on Oxford St last week and I'm still thinking about it. Could this be love?
Introducing St Tropez Skin Illuminator in Rose. This product works the same as the best selling skin illuminator in Violet, but is best suited to skins with blue or pink undertones. St Tropez illuminators were a backstage staple at London Fashion Week last year and they're also used by the X Factor MUA's, so that's a pretty good indication that this is a worthy product.
When applied to the cheekbones it creates a gorgeous flush, and is a lot more subtle than the violet and gold shades. Very user friendly! I haven't purchased this one yet and only managed to swatch it in store so apologies for the lack of photos :o
St Tropez Skin Illuminator is available at department stores (such as Selfridges) and Boots for £12 for 50ml.

P.S. I know this has been around a little while but I just wanted to give it a shout out!

Limited Edition Creme Brulee Lip Therapy

Creme Brulee is one of life's little indulgences - creamy, caramelly (yep, I just made up a word) and oh so naughty! It's been a firm favourite of mine since my mum first made it for us when I was little, so one can imagine my delight at this little beauty discovery!

Vaseline Lip Therapy is a handbag fixture and make up artist's essential thanks to the unrivalled moisturising effects of these little pots of wonder. We all know that our lipstick is going to look and feel a million times better when the lips are prepped and protected and thanks to this new release we can get our just desserts while the nourishing ingredients go to work on our pouts!
I have trouble resisting anything that smells like a cake/ dessert/ any other sweet treat, so I'm swooning over this limited edition Creme Brulee Lip Therapy by Vaseline!
Available from today for the teeny price of £2.99, you can pick up your very own pocket sized delight from Selfridges (selling it exclusively) or online from vaseline.co.uk. (EDIT: Discontinued)

A sugar hit that'll go straight to your lips - not your hips :)
