Pretty Polly Shape It Up! Tummy Shaper Tights Review

Since I touched down at Heathrow, Pretty Polly have been my go-to brand for all things denier related.
From playful collaborations with Henry Holland to Vintage style backseamed nudes and Secret Socks, Pretty Polly always seem to have something for my pins for every occasion.
Now they've stepped things up a notch and introduced a shapewear range (cue applause).

The new Shape It Up! range is designed to flatten and enhance your lady lumps and includes the Tum & Bum Shaper Tights for a winning combination of perkier bottom and flattened belly, Tummy Shaper Tights to smooth down lumpy bits and suck things in a little (also available as suspender tights, wooo!) and the Totally in Control Shaper Shorts that lift the bum, flatten the tum and keep things smooth and tight in the thigh area.

I've been giving the Tummy Shaper Tights a spin and even took some rather embarrassing pictures to show you the detailing of the tights.

As you can see, the tights are fairly sheer on the leg but feature an opaque high-waisted-hotpants style top. This is the bit designed to 'suck you in'.
The tummy shaper component of these is tight, yet weirdly comfortable and features flat seams that lay against your body so you achieve a smooth finish when you're actually wearing clothes over them!
The Tummy Shaper Tights by Pretty Polly retail for £12.

P.S. I am fully aware that I don't have the bum of a Dukan Diet devotee. I have squidgy bits, bumpy bits and downright funny bits but this is a blog for girls like me, so laugh if you like because I certainly am! You may also be wondering why these pictures were taken in a forest. For that I have no answer.

Thanks for reading!

Pretty Polly Secret Socks!

I've wanted a pair of Secret Socks since I first saw them on Twitter a few months ago and now I can proudly say that I actually own some.

The selling point of these is that they're essentially opaque socks and 20 denier tights in one - perfect for chilly days when your regular tights just aren't going to cut the mustard.

These are such a cool idea and I'm looking forward to actually wearing these in public rather than just putting them on and taking awkward photographs of my knees in my bedroom.

Secret Socks are available in 3 different styles - knee high, thigh high and patterned.
These are actually the thigh high version but for the purpose of the photos (and to maintain what little dignity I have left) I'm wearing them at knee length.

What do you think? Are you a fan of the socks and tights combo?
I found mine at John Lewis for £7.50 but you can find them at various shops on the high street including River Island, or online at www.prettypolly.co.uk

Pretty Polly Stars + Stripes Tights

Just in time for the Olympics, Pretty Polly have teamed up with Henry Holland once again to create a series of seriously cool flag tights

I'm wearing the Stars and Stripes American flag design and as you can see, these tights are beyond kooky and not for the faint of heart.

I won these in a twitter competition held by Pretty Polly a few days ago and road tested them (in the safety of my house) tonight.

I was pleasantly surprised by how strong these tights are and I can't see them getting any pesky ladders anytime soon, which is always a welcome bonus. They're pretty opaque too, so I almost felt like I was wearing leggings.

For my American comrades, I think these would be a very cool addition to their Olympic season wardrobes - what a fabulous way to support your nation in the games!

Even though I'm not American, these flag tights are way too fun not to wear, but, being an Aussie I am currently eyeing up these Australian flag tights to flaunt in support of my homeland :)

...and of course for the Brits there's the Rule Britannia Union Jack version.

Because I have a British passport, surely I can justify getting these too right? Right?

The flag tights retail at £15. Take a look at them online here and follow Pretty Polly on twitter if you like to get your tweet on!

What do you think of the flag tights by Henry Holland for Pretty Polly? Will you be rocking patriotic pins anytime soon?

Thanks for reading! :*

Nylon Backseam Tights by Pretty Polly

It's official, flesh toned tights are back in a big way (thanks to a certain Duchess of Cambridge) and for me, they're the perfect addition to my Spring wardrobe this year.

Nude tights mean we can get around in a little less clothing this season and look like we've got our pins out without completely freezing our bottoms off in the process.
Floral dress + nude tight + flats = win.
The trick is in picking the right pair - tights that are sheer and not too glossy are my style of choice ,so they're not completely obvious but disguise imperfections and keep legs warm.

On a mission to find the perfect pair of nudes, I headed to the accessories section of River Island but the vintage glamour obsessive within steered me to a pair of sassy nude tights, with a twist.

I've posted about Pretty Polly tights before (you can read those articles here) and I'm going to do it again now because, quite simply, I love them.

The pair I bought are the Nylon Backseam Tights.

As you can see, these tights are nude and sheer with a black seam running down the back of the leg.
The tights have a black cuban heel and completely black sole.

I think these tights are really fun and could add a touch of vintage glamour to my Spring outfits.
What do you think?
I got these for just over £5 from River Island, but you can check out the Pretty Polly website right here

Pretty Polly + House of Holland Tights: Roadtested

A few weeks back I did a post on the insanely sassy House of Holland for Pretty Polly AW11 collection featuring Jessie J.
Jessie looked so darn amazing in the ad campaigns that I instantly fell in love with the Super Suspenders she's wearing in one of the posters.

Anyway, I felt like it was simply my duty to pick up a pair of these tights from River Island and show you what they look like on a real girl (me) with a real bum and thighs (mine), without the power of photoshop and airbrushing. (not to say Jessie isn't real of course but she is abnormally hot!).

Jessie is wearing the Mesh Super Suspender Tights in the above pic. I bought the regular Super Suspender Tights, which are a little more sheer around the top. Yikes.

Anyway, here's a little looksie at me and my pins :o
*Hope they're not too offensive*

I picked these up for £12 from River Island, but they're currently on offer for £8 direct from Pretty Polly HERE.

These tights are super comfy and quirky and are a great find for vintage lovers like me.
I think they would look awesome with shorts and Doc Martens :D.

What do you reckon? Fancy taking the plunge with Pretty Polly?

Thanks for reading and hope you've not been scarred for life by my wobbly bits!

Pretty Polly? Pretty Amazing!

Take Britains most beloved and iconic legwear, add one red hot designer,  and throw in one of the biggest pop stars in the world, and what do you get? The House of Holland for Pretty Polly AW11 collection featuring Jessie J of course!
The mercury's dropping and tights are coming back in a big way - but why dress your legs in something drab and  dreary when you've got gorgeous (and affordable) designs at your fingertips?
With prices starting at £12, the collection is 100% instant sexbomb - just add tights.
There's something for every girl with styles ranging from bold stars to a cheeky take on laddering and the undeniably gorgeous mesh Super Suspenders as worn by Jessie, so there's really no excuse not to sass up your Autumn wardrobe.

Doin' it like a superhero - Jessie J displays an extremely
impressive pair of pins accentuated by the flattering, sassy
design of the tights

I'll be going for the Super Suspenders because I think they look unreal - quirky and different with just the right amount of sex-kitten sophistication. I'm a big fan of suspenders, but can get a bit annoyed with them not staying up properly! The great thing about the Super Suspender design is that they look like you're wearing suspenders when you're actually taking a cheeky shortcut. Do we call that cheating? I call it innovation!
One glance at this stunning comic - strip style advertisement is enough to make you fall in love with these tights and I can say I definitely came down with a case of leg envy when I first laid eyes on it!
If, like me, this collection has reignited your passion for gorgeous tights,  I suggest you leg it over to the Pretty Polly pop up shop and get em while they're hot! The pop up shop is located at Covent Garden Market and is open until January 31 next year. To check out the gorgeous collection visit Pretty Polly here.

P.S. I know tights don't strictly fall under the 'beauty' category, but they are just too darn special not to rave about!

Lippy Tip - To stop a case of the dreaded 'tight itchies' - you know, that uncomfortable feeling when your tights rub against your winter-parched skin -  be sure to moisturise your legs before rolling on your legwear. Using a dry oil such as Huile Prodigieuse by cult brand Nuxe smells lovely and absorbs quickly. I picked up my bottle from Space NK for £23 (50ml). I was feeling extra girly that day so opted for the Golden Shimmer edition

This shimmering version of Huile Prodigieuse
adds a little disco to your body, face and hair :)
