Bilou Creamy Shower Foams

If you're into cute packaging and enjoy smelling like a dessert, I'm pretty confident you'll want to try these shower foams.

The foams are by German brand Bilou (which, incidentally, was founded by a Youtuber), and are already making an impression here in the UK thanks to their instagram-worthy packaging and saccharine scents. Speaking of Instagram, Bilou's (@mybilou) is actually Germany's most popular Instagram page, with nearly 1.4 million followers!

Designed to be 'extra creamy', the kitsch shower foams are available in five different fragrances - Cotton Candy, Tasty Donut, Coco Cocktail, Pink Melon and Fizzy Berry.
I have to hand the Cotton Candy and Tasty Donut scents, which are both as decadently sweet as expected. The vegan shower foams are super, super creamy and create satisfyingly pillowy clouds of fluffy foam when dispensed. The foams contain aloe vera as well as sweet almond and avocado oils.
Cotton Candy is described as smelling like fluffy cotton candy, caramelly & sweet - just heavenly! Sweet, fluffy fragrance- rainbow cotton candy, vanilla, sugary sweet.

Tasty Donut smells like freshly baked donuts and fruity strawberry icing- absolutely delicious! Sweet aromas of bakery items, strawberries, sugar frosting, sugar sprinkles and freshly baked donuts.

Of the two, Cotton Candy is my favourite as it has an almost coco-nutty vibe to it. While Tasty Donut  does smell quite like a strawberry glazed sugar donut, I find the scent just a tad too artificial for me. Scent is of course a very subjective thing though, so I'm sure plenty of people would prefer the donut scent over the cotton candy one!

I'm quite fond of shower foams in general and they just seem that little bit more fun when they smell like freshly baked donuts or candyfloss at a seaside fair. There are also matching moisturising foams and body sprays available if you fancy layering up the sweetness.

Heavily Discounted Fake Tan at Superdrug

So something ridiculous just happened. I was having a quick look in Superdrug tonight and came across a load of fake tan products with some very puzzling price tags.

At first I spotted the L'Oreal Sublime Bronze One Day Tinted Gel for Face priced at £1.25. I took it to the counter and asked if it was a mistake so the shop assistant scanned it and then informed that it was a mistake and it's actually 50 PENCE. That's right ladies and gentleman - 50p for a product that usually retails for £12.99. I haven't tried it yet but at 50p it won't be a complete tragedy if I don't get along with it.
The other product I picked up was Famous Dave's Spray Tan for (wait for it) the minuscule price of 10 PENCE. I've got the gradual tanner by this brand and I'm pretty chuffed with it so I'm glad I got the spray to go with it.

There were also a load of other brands at really, really cheap prices and I was informed that this is going on at Superdrug stores everywhere at the moment due to re-branding, re-packaging and discontinued lines. If you're a bit of a fake tan junkie or a complete novice wanting to try a few brands out, I suggest you run down to Superdrug at your earliest convenience!

Cheap Thrills!: MUA Pro-Base Conceal and Brighten Kit in Porcelain-Beige

Whilst MUA seems to be a blogger favourite, the Pro-Base Conceal and Brighten Kit is actually my first product from this cheap and cheerful brand.

Featuring 3 products in 1 palette, the kit includes two concealer shades and one highlighter, designed to be mixed together to create your perfect shade!

This is a pretty nifty idea because we all know what a rigmarole it can be to find a perfect match when it comes to concealers and nobody wants to end up drawing attention to the bits they're trying to hide because the shade's too light or dark, too orange or too muddy!

The kit is oil free and pretty generously pigmented, so you don't need to use a lot at once - which is a good thing because these pans are pretty shallow!

I've found this kit to be pretty straight forward and easy to use - the concealers do crease under my eyes a little bit but I'm yet to find a product that doesn't and the highlighter gives a nice subtle, shimmery rose coloured effect when used high on the cheek bones.
I picked up the kit in Porcelain-Beige, which is the lightest colour but it's also available in Natural-Medium Rose and Beige-Golden.

Hair Adventures: Dying my Hair Red at Home

You may have seen last week's post about my hair faux pas featuring Schwarzkopf Live Color XXL Luminance.
Though this particular product is designed to lighten and colour dark hair, I failed to take notice of the fact that it wasn't going to do anything to the black dye that still lingered in my lengths.
So I was left with a slightly bizarre light red on top, black through the lengths, fiery on the ends look that led my own brother to enquire as to why I looked like a 'red skunk head'. Whatever that is.

Anyway, long story short, I wasn't happy rocking the reverse-ombre look but I wasn't ready to go back to the dark side just yet. What's a girl to do?

Pop into Superdrug on her lunch break of course and pick up a packet of pre-lightener and two packs of red dye!

I finally admitted to myself that if I wanted to turn my locks red, bleach was going to be involved.
Here's what happened:

This is the result (in a variety of different lighting) after pre-bleaching with Clairol Born Blonde Lightener and two packs of Superdrug Colour Vibrance Permanent Colour in 8:45 Fire Red.
I need to mention that the pre-lightener was really effective at lifting the black dye and was probably the most pleasant bleach I've used in terms of minimal stinging/ itchiness and odour!

I did the dye job two days ago and washed my hair today and was a little surprised by the amount of dye that ran out when I washed it - the shower scene from Hitchcock's Psycho sprang to mind.
I know that red dyes fade incredibly fast so I think this time next week I'll be topping up the colour with a semi-permanent. Stay tuned :0

Cheap Thrills: Superdrug Coconut Oil

Coconut oil, and various other multitasking oils seem to be everywhere in the beauty world at the moment, so I thought I'd share this ridiculously cheap find I stumbled across in Superdrug.

I got this coconut oil for 99p.

 Yes, 99p.

This product isn't 100% pure coconut oil, thanks to the addition of parfum and something called Coumarin, which is basically a vanilla type fragrance, but it does everything pure oil does - just don't eat it!

The oil in the 125ml tub is solidified but melts on contact with the sin.

As you probably know by now, coconut oil is fantastic as a fast absorbing body moisturiser and works as a lovely hydrating treatment for hair.

I've been using this multitasking wonder instead of shower gel to shave my legs, which leaves them really soft and smelling sweet :)


What are your thoughts on coconut oil? Not succumbing to the hype or is it a beauty staple?

Samy Fat Hair - My Big Fat Hair: Part 2

Last week I got all bloggy about my quest for big hair ( you can read it here if you're so inclined), so I thought you might want to see what my hair looks like after the Samy Fat Hair + topknot + bed combo I mentioned in the post.

These pics are on the wrong side of dodgy but I hope you get the idea - tousled, volumised, messy morning hair with loads of lift at the roots.

My hair is naturally almost poker straight so I'm pretty impressed with how well the Samy products work.

My hair maintains the purposefully dishevelled, fat hair look for almost a whole day before it deflates a little.

It doesn't feel sticky or stiff

I think it's safe to say I am officially a fan of the Samy Fat Hair range.



Samy Fat Hair - My Big Fat Hair

Like a lot of women, I seem to be on some sort of eternal quest to achieve thick, bouncy and big hair.

I've tried a whole load of products over the years to try and tame my mane into the Cheryl Cole/ Kim Kardashian hybrid hair I've imagined and I wanted to share my latest find.

I've got to admit I'm more loyal to Boots than Superdrug for some reason, but I was killing some time in the hair section of Superdrug a few weeks ago when I came across the Samy range.

Initially it was the Jooouge Fun Fiber String Mousse that caught my eye, but I got a little shy about it and went for the Fat Hair range instead.

The range includes a shampoo, conditioner, thickening spray, thickening creme, pomade, amplifying hair spray and mousse.
There was some kind of offer on (can't remember what it was exactly) so I picked up the thickening creme and amplifying mousse.

I've been using these products on and off since I got them and I must say that I'm pleasantly surprised.

Why?

Because they work!

All the products in the Fat Hair range contain the 'FH4 Thickening Complex' that claims to penetrate each and every strand and literally expand them from the inside out. How cool is that?

Both the mousse and the creme are basically applied in the same way - just massage a small amount into towel dried hair, blast with hair dryer (upside down for extra oomph), then sit back and bask in your big-haired sexiness :D

The Fat Hair Thickening Creme is a creamy, sort of gel like product that absorbs extremely easily. It's not sticky like a lot of styling products seem to be and you only need to use a little bit. I use it from roots to tips and it doesn't seem to weigh my hair down or make my scalp oily.

The Amplifying Mousse is like a typical hair mousse in terms of texture and I do find that it leaves some of my ends a little 'crispy' once dry, but this isn't a problem because I just brush it out. I use the mousse in conjunction with the Creme and I've found them to be a winning combination.

I'm a bit lazy most of the time when it comes to drying my hair and I've found I get really nice results by working the products through my damp hair, letting it air dry a little more, then twisting it up into a topknot before bed.

In the morning I shower and apply my makeup, then blast the topknot with a hairdryer before letting my hair out last thing and seeing what it does!

LIPSTICK REVIEW: Sleek Pout Paint

As a fairly loyal Boots customer, I rarely set foot in Superdrug stores. This is probably largely due to the fact that I have a Boots card, so therefore I'm more inclined to spend up there where I can earn points to spend on even more products I don't actually need :)

That said, I did visit Superdrug at Charing Cross Road today for a post-work beauty fix and I ended up having a great time rifling through beauty brands I'd never actually played with before (and also realised Superdrug have a loyalty card of their own. Have I been living under a rock?)! One of these brands was Sleek MakeUP. I was blown away by their extensive range (they make 17 shades of foundation!) and had to stop myself from grabbing at least one of everything! I decided to allow myself one treat from the Sleek range, and having heard rave reviews about Pout Paint, snapped up one of these pocket sized wonders.

I chose 'Pin Up' - a classic rich red.

To put it blatantly, this stuff is awesome and certainly ticks a lot of boxes

• It is seriously highly pigmented
• You only need a tiny amount per application
• The staying power is outstanding
• Dries quickly
• Has a velvet/ matte finish
• You can mix it with other Pout Paints to create your own custom colours - a great touch :)

This product is really impressive and the fact that it's so highly pigmented means the colour stays true to what you see in the tube and won't transform on your lips.

I'm starting to think there's space in my purse for a Superdrug Beauty Card too...
