REN Perfect Canvas Clean Jelly Cleanser

(sample/aff links) I have been searching for a new cleanser recently (my previous one wasn't doing it for me) so the latest launch from REN couldn't have come at a better time.
The REN Perfect Canvas Clean Jelly Cleanser is a tri-phase cleanser, which basically means it goes through three stages on application. The newest addition to the Perfect Canvas range, the cleanser starts off as a jelly, then transforms into an oil as you massage it onto your skin, before turning into a milk once water is added. Tri-phase cleansers in general are super effective at removing makeup and SPF and this one is no exception.

REN Perfect Canvas Clean Jelly Cleanser

The key with using this cleanser is to make sure you start with a dry face - if it's already damp it will just turn into a milk right away, before it's had a chance to do its job. You just massage a small amount over your face and it will become a rich oil that gets to work removing makeup (including waterproof), then you either add water to turn it into a milk or go straight in with a warm, damp flannel.
If you're anything like me, you should be left with soft, clean skin that doesn't feel stripped or tight, but nicely hydrated and comfortable. In fact, my face looked and felt ever so slightly dewy once I'd dried off.

REN Perfect Canvas Clean Jelly Cleanser

This is a really pleasant cleanser and I'm not sure I've tried anything quite like it. It's a really thick yet somehow light jelly with a very light natural fragrance and it removed my makeup in one go when I tested it last night. I purposely wore a waterproof liquid liner and the most waterproof mascara I own and found that the cleanser removed virtually every trace with very little effort on my part. The jelly also didn't irritate my eyes in the slightest, (when my dedicated eye makeup remover actually does a bit) so this will definitely be my go-to cleanser when i have a fair whack of mascara to remove.

The Perfect Canvas Clean Jelly Cleanser is a vegan product that contains 100% naturally derived ingredients inlcuding Grape Seed Oil, Meadowfoam Seed Oil and Sunflower Seed Oil. The oils work to melt away makeup and pollution while Glycerin, a humectant, keeps the skin hydrated.
In keeping with REN's clean skincare ethos, the cleanser comes in a tube made of 50% Post-Consumer Recycled plastic with a lid made from 100% PCR. I think this adds an extra incentive to buy the cleanser because we know by now how crucial it is to be conscious of the environmental impact of the products we use.

It's worth mentioning that REN are currently offering 20% off first orders with the code MY20. The new cleanser is included in the promo so if you're tempted, now's the chance! You can find it right now online at REN

CeraVe Comes to the UK

(Samples/Affiliate Links) CeraVe already has a huge following on its home shores of the US and now the Dermatologist-developed skincare brand is making a name for itself in the UK thanks to its gentle, effective products. I have been trying three different products from CeraVe; the Hydrating Cleanser, Facial Moisturising Lotion for PM and the Daily Moisturising Cream.

Cerave Hydrating Facial Cleanser Review

The Hydrating Facial Cleanser has already achieved cult status this side of the pond thanks to its gel formula rich in Ceramides and Hyaluronic Acid. This particular cleanser was developed for 'normal' to dry skin (there are cleansers for other skin types available) and is described as being fragrance-free, non-irritating and non-comedogenic. The Ceramides in the formula work to protect and restore the skin's natural barrier while Hyaluronic Acid does it thing as a humectant by attracting hydration to the skin. Something I have found with this cleanser is that sometimes it ever so slightly 'stings' my skin during use. I couldn't figure out why sometimes it did this and sometimes it was perfectly fine and soothing until I looked at other products I was using. Basically I have used anything very active the night before (exfoliating acids, retinol products etc), this will sting a little bit! I know for a fact that many, many people get on extremely well with this and the sensation I experience when using after actives doesn't take away from the fact that it's a very well known, well loved product.

Cerave Facial Moisturising Lotion for PM Review

The Facial Moisturising Lotion for the PM however is a whole different story. I really like it as a light but effective moisturiser (and not just at night either). Packaged in a tube with a convenient pump, the moisturising lotion features Ceramides, Niacinamide, Glycerin and Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, which is an antioxidant consisting of coconut oil and glycerin. As forementioned, Ceramides work to protect and restore the natural barrier function of the skin while Niacinamide (Vit B3) improves fine lines, wrinkles, uneven tone and dullness. Glycerin, which is second on the list of ingredients after Purified Water, is also a humectant that works to keep the skin shielded and hydrated. A very nice night cream that feels much more luxurious than it looks. ETA I have linked above to the lotion available at Boots - though it doesn't say PM on the tube, it seems to have the same ingredients!

Cerave Moisturising Cream Review

The Moisturising Cream for Dry to Very Dry Skin is designed for use on both the face and the body (which are words that usually frighten me a bit for no particular reason) contains 3 different Ceramides as well as Hyaluronic Acid to attract hydration to the skin and keep it locked in. This is a very nice, very inoffensive, very decent product that I imagine pretty much everyone would like. Because it doesn't really smell like anything at all (except, maybe a bit like...water? Does water smell like anything??), absorbs quickly and leaves skin suitably soft and smooth, it seems to me that it's a one-size-fits-all sort of moisturiser that you'd have in your bath and body stash ready for when you don't want anything fancy or scented but just crave a decent hit of moisture and don't want to wait an age before you can get dressed. By happy coincidence it just so happens that the Daily Moisturising Lotion is recommended by various pro fake tanners as an excellent aftercare moisturiser. It was great timing when this arrived because I was literally sitting there in a fresh layer of fake tanning foam in preparation for our holiday when the Postman turned up. The reason it's praised for its faux-tan maintaining powers is because the formula doesn't contain any of the oils that usually break down the colour.

One of the main selling points of the products is that they are affordable yet effective with the cleanser on sale for £9.50, the facial moisturiser at £13 and the moisturising cream coming in at £9. CeraVe products are available at Boots.

Caudalie Vinopure Purifying Gel Cleanser

(Sample/AffiliateLinks) This newly launched gel cleanser arrived just in time for that second heatwave we recently had and it was a very welcome addition to our bathroom!
Caudalie Vinopure Purifying Gel Cleanser was developed for oily and combination skins and is designed to fight blemishes without drying out the skin. While my skin leans to the dry side of the spectrum and I wouldn't usually seek out a cleanser to control blemishes, I get on really well with this cleanser. Here's why.

a close up of Caudalie Vinopure Purifying Gel Cleanser in a green tube with a white illustration of grapes

Caudalie Vinopure Purifying Gel Cleanser Review

This is a refreshing gel formula with a consistency that reminds me a bit of watered down aloe vera. You know that sort of slippery, jelly-like feeling that fresh aloe vera has? It's a little like that. The gel formula of the cleanser makes it absolutely perfect for warm weather, when we naturally reach for something a bit lighter and refreshing. I've really, really enjoyed cleansing with this both in the morning to refresh and revive and in the evenings to cool my face before bed.

A full length image of Caudalie Vinopure Purifying Gel Cleanser in a green tube with a white illustration of grapes lying on a bed of green and white leaves

Featuring a unique blend of essential oils including Lavender, Lemongrass, Peppermint and Rosemary, the gel cleanser contains antioxidant Polyphenols and Salicylic Acid which provides a gentle exfoliating action and works to gently shift any gunk stuck in pores. The cleanser is enriched with organic Grape and Rose waters to keep the formula hydrating on the skin while the essential oils and Salicylic Acid purify and clear. The gentle foaming action of the cleanser is down to Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate which is a mild surfactant derived from coconuts, so if you're sensitive to SLS, this could be a good option. In terms of scent, the Vinopure Purifying Gel Cleanser has a fresh, natural botanical scent, which just enhances the whole cleansing experience in my opinion.

A close up image of Caudalie Vinopure Purifying Gel Cleanser showing a white lid and a clear gel consistency of the cleanser

Overall I think this is a great, gentle cleanser that most people would enjoy (I know my boyfriend is quite fond of it!). It's pretty affordable too at £16 for 150ml.
You can find Caudalie Vinopure Purifying Gel Cleanser at a range of retailers or direct from Caudalie where they currently have a special offer of a free Vinopure duo with a spend of £45 or more. There are other items in the Vinopure range that I am yet to try including an award-winning toner, a serum and a mattifying moisturiser.

Weleda Week: Weleda Gentle Cleansing Foam

(gift/affiliate link) Designed for normal and combination skin types, my dry-ish complexion isn't strictly the target audience for the Weleda Gentle Cleansing Foam but I have been enjoying it nonetheless.
The natural face wash features mild plant-derived cleansers including Coco-Glucoside (a surfactant made from coconut and fruit sugars) and contains Marshmallow Root and organic Witch Hazel extract to soothe, moisturise and refine the skin.
Weleda Gentle Cleansing Foam

I want to clarify that this isn't a foaming cleanser, it's a cleansing foam - foaming cleansers are known for drying and stripping the skin as they lather up but this one is simply liquid that comes in a pump that creates a fluffy ball of foam as it's dispensed. As for drying the skin, it doesn't do that either; I've not experienced any tightness or discomfort whatsoever, just a pleasantly clean feeling.

Weleda Gentle Cleansing Foam

Weleda Gentle Cleansing Foam
To use, you just give the bottle a pump or two to release the foam, massage it onto a damp face then rinse off with warm water. There is an uplifting and sort of invigorating scent to the cleanser thanks to a special blend of essential oils, so I think it's particularly good for a morning cleanse to wake you up a bit and give you an aromatherapeutic boost before you start the day.
The cleansing foam rinses away very easily and leaves behind no detectable residue so it's a good option if you like to get things done in a hurry! I haven't used it to take off makeup but a friend has and she commented that it did the job well so that's worth noting too.
Overall, after using the cleansing foam a good few times myself and having my boyfriend, sister and friends use it too (we've had a few visitors lately!), I'd say that it's a good shout for pretty much everyone really.
Weleda Gentle Cleansing Foam is £15.95 for 100ml at Look Fantastic.

ARK Skincare Review: Age Defend Cleanser & Moisturiser

(sample) I had wanted to try ARK Skincare for quite a while so I'm really happy I've had the opportunity to try a couple of products over the past few weeks. Cruelty Free, vegan-friendly and utterly joyful to use, these two have been a welcome addition to my skincare stash but before I get into the details, here's a little bit about ARK.
Image of ARK Skincare Age Defend Conditioning Cleanser and Replenishing Moisturiser

The award-winning British brand are big on celebrating beauty at every age and use carefully selected bioactive natural ingredients in their formulas to complement and benefit different age groups. To help customers decide on the products most suited to them, ARK came up with a three step system.
Step 1 is age; there are three cleansers and three moisturisers that have been specially developed for three different age categories. Called the Age Intelligent range, these products are designed to treat age-related needs, so there is Age Protect, which is for teens and 20s, Age Defend for 30s and 40s and Age Defy for 50+.

Step 2 is concern; targeted treatment products called Skin Perfectors to treat specific concerns such as hydration, firming and clearing. Products in the Skin Perfectors range include serums, a masque and an exfoliator.

Step 3 is lifestyle; the Skin Essentials range is designed to complement and enhance the rest of your regime and includes a pre-cleanse, hydrating mist, primer with SPF30, eye cream and plumping lip cream.

As I'm in my 30s I've been trying out the Age Defend range which includes a conditioning cleanser and replenishing moisturiser and so far I've really been enjoying both products!

The cleanser and moisturiser both contain Kiwi and Passion Fruit lipids which are rich in Omega 3 and help to retain moisture levels in the skin. Blue Lotus also features in both products. Touted as the 'sacred flower of anti-ageing', Blue Lotus is an effective antioxidant which helps to maintain firmness and elasticity.
ARK Skincare Age Defend Conditioning Cleanser

The award-winning Conditioning Cleanser (£25) is designed to cleanse, nourish and aid the skin's natural exfoliation process via a soothing gel formula. The cleanser contains Moringa Oil which is naturally rich in Vitamin C and A to help create a radiant, glowing complexion as it cleanses away makeup and dirt. 'Conditioning Cleanser' is a spot-on name for this formula as it's very comfortable to use - skin feels nice and clean but not tight or stripped. The Conditioning Cleanser also rinses away easily (this isn't necessarily a washcloth job) and is just really pleasant to use overall. It's worth mentioning that it also smells incredible - sort of herbal and both invigorating and relaxing at the same time. I realise that makes very little sense but you're just going to have to trust me on this.

ARK Skincare Age Defend Replenishing Moisturiser

The other product in the Age Defend range is the Replenishing Moisturiser (£35). First and foremost, I really, really rate this moisturiser. From the packaging through to the finish of the formula, I'm very impressed! A cream formula with a slight gel consistency, the moisturiser has a Shea Butter and Olive Oil base enriched with Co-enzyme Q10 and skin plumping peptides including Matrixyl. Along with the aforementioned Kiwi and Passion Fruit lipids and Blue Lotus, the Replenishing Moisturiser also contains Retinal Parmitate which is gentle enough for sensitive skin and works to increase collagen production and help to keep skin plump and resilient. Like the Age Defend cleanser, this moisturiser smells pretty amazing, which is always a bonus when it's going on your face.

I'm really impressed with both the cleanser and the moisturiser from the Age Defend range and ARK as a brand has certainly got my attention and I'm keen to have a play with more of their products. You can find out more about ARK and have a browse at arkskincare.com.

Merumaya Mineral Cleansing Paste

(AD/gifted item) I remember trying the Merumaya Melting Cleansing Balm a few years ago when it launched (you can read the review here) so it's lovely to revisit the brand again and try another product.
The Mineral Cleansing Paste* at a glance is essentially an exfoliant and cleanser in one, but if you dig a little deeper you'll find that it's full of thoughtful ingredients which benefit the skin in some interesting ways.
Image of a tube of Merumaya Mineral Cleansing Paste

Merumaya Mineral Cleansing Paste Review

With sweet almond oil and glycerin at its base, the cleansing paste is nourishing and hydrating while the exfoliating action is down to something called Corindon 100 which is a biodegradable fine white powder made from crystals.

Other ingredients include Zinc (in two forms) which provides some antioxidant protection and has antimicrobial properties to help prevent breakouts and Magnesium for its anti-stress and anti-fatigue effects as well as its ability to help maintain the skin's barrier.

The Mineral Cleansing Paste also contains Copper which helps the skin to form elastin (which gives skin that lovely bounce and suppleness). Copper also aids in the production of melanin and the absorption of iron.

Speaking of Iron, it's also included in the mineral cleansing paste as it gives skin a healthy glow and also has anti-inflammatory properties and stimulates collagen production.

Silicon is in the mix as it's a key player in collagen formation and also helps to improve elasticity and resilience.
Merumaya Mineral Cleansing Paste Texture

Designed for all skin types, the cleansing paste can be used every day, but I'd say the frequency of use would be determined by just how sensitive your skin is and how often you feel like you want to use a physical exfoliating product (though this is very gentle).
I've been using it a few times a week (alternating between an acid exfoliant and this) and I'm pretty pleased with the results.
In the short term, immediately after use, it leaves skin beautifully smooth and sort of 'polished' and ready to receive serums and moisturiser.
In the long term (I'm talking two weeks here rather than months), skin is overall brighter and smoother and I'm certain that sebaceous filaments (little dark spots often mistaken for blackheads) are reduced and my overall tone is more even.

To use the Mineral Cleansing Paste, you just squeeze some out of the tube, massage it all over the face (obviously be careful around the eyes), add a bit of water and massage a little more and then rinse away.
It really is quite a lovely product and if you're a fan of gentle exfoliating products or you're looking to add one to your stash, you can find the Mineral Cleansing Paste at Merumaya.

Nourish London Antioxidant Multi-Tasking Super Balm

(ad/gifted) Like most people I can appreciate a decent multi-purpose product and the newly launched Antioxidant Multi-Tasking Super Balm from Nourish is a great one! I'm already a fan of Nourish (you can read my posts about some of their other products here ) so I was pretty excited to try the brand's latest offering, the Antioxidant Multi-Tasking Super Balm.

Nourish London Antioxidant Multi-Tasking Super Balm

The 100 percent vegan balm is super rich and luxurious and features a unique formula that helps to strengthen and protect the skin from free radical damage. The formula contains omega-rich oils as well as a patented French Marine Algae extract to help tone, firm and smooth.
Here's a little overview of the key ingredients in the Antioxidant Multi-Tasking Super Balm including their functions:
Antioxidant Tea Oil - Protects the natural lipid layer on the skin
Macadamia Oil with Linoleic Acid - balances sebum production in combo skin and helps to supplement lower sebum levels in more mature skin
Oil Soluble Vitamin C - to aid the production of collagen
Tocopherol, Vitamin E - to improve moisture levels
Borage and Pumpkin Seed Oil - to help reduce sensitivities
Bisabolol and Ginger - to help prevent damage from free radicals
Kale Extract -a 'detoxifying' antioxidant that helps to protect against pollution
Patented French Marine Algae extract - a protective antioxidant that (as mentioned), helps to tone and firm.
In a nutshell, the balm is omega-rich and full of protective antioxidants, so it's generally going to be doing great things for your skin, no matter how you choose to use it, which leads me to my next point.
The Super Balm is designed to be used in three different ways; as a cleanser, as a mask and as an intensive moisturising treatment.
To use as a cleanser, massage a small amount onto damp skin (though I use balms on dry skin too), dampen the organic face cloth that comes with the balm and use it to gently remove the product. The face cloth also provides a gentle exfoliation as you remove the balm, leaving the skin with a beautiful glowing finish. These days I always double cleanse, whether I'm wearing foundation/SPF or not and so far have used the balm as the first cleanse and can confirm that it does a brilliant job removing makeup.
I am yet to use the balm as a mask, but if you fancy an intensely nourishing treatment, just apply a thin layer to the face and leave it for 20 minutes before removing. Alternatively you can leave it on overnight.
As a moisturiser, I have used the Super Balm on my knees, elbows and hands and was pleasantly surprised by how well it absorbed. As a moisturiser, it left my dry bits feeling and looking smooth and soft, so it's particularly good for getting your limbs ready for the warmer weather.

Overall I'm really pleased with the Nourish London Antioxidant Multi-Tasking Super Balm. As well as its multi-use formula and plethora of excellent ingredients, the balm also smells beautiful - quite herbal and relaxing and I can really smell the rosemary and geranium oils that also feature in the ingredients. It's also worth mentioning that the 50ml of product is housed in a heavy glass jar, so it definitely has a luxurious feel to it.
If you're keen to give the Antioxidant Multi-Tasking Super Balm a try for yourself, it's available at nourishskinrange.com for £32.

Kate Somerville Goat Milk Moisturizing Cleanser

Ever since Caroline Hirons showed the Kate Somerville Goat Milk Cleanser* in one of her videos, I've been itching to try it for myself. There are a couple of reasons why it's taken me years to get the goat milk cleanser into my bathroom. Firstly, like all Kate Somerville products up until recently it was only available in the US and secondly, it was being reformulated so wasn't available to anyone! Now though it's back in a better formula (this one is a cream whereas the original was a balm) and it's now stocked at Space NK and at Kate Somerville online in the UK so those of us who've been desperate to try it can now do so with ease!
Prior to this cleanser I'd been using Kate Somerville's Exfolikate Cleanser* daily, which I did like but feel that it's more of a 'summertime' cleanser for me. With daily use I found it a little bit drying for my skin and really should have been using a hydrating cream cleanser, which is what my skin really craves at the moment.

Kate Somerville Goat Milk Cleanser

I've only had the goat milk for a couple of days but I already feel like this is the start of a beautiful relationship. After my very first cleanse with it (pea sized blob massaged into damp face for 30 seconds before rinsing) it was as if my face did a huge happy sigh of relief. It was like it was grateful to me for bestowing such a glorious thirst-quenching gift upon it's parched contours! My face didn't feel tight in the slightest after rinsing, which is something I've experienced lately with virtually every cleanser, even Cerave, and it sort of frothed up as I massaged it in which was a happy surprise given that it's a cream formula. It has to be mentioned that the goat milk cleanser smells superb. It's a bit sweet, a bit vanilla-ry and a touch goat milky. I guess like a scoop of goat milk vanilla ice cream? It's a delicious scent, however you describe it. The cleanser contains goat milk, Manuka honey and jojoba and avocado oils and is sulfate free. The sulfate alternatives used in this are Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate and cocamidopropyl hydroxysultaine which are partly derived from coconut oil and are said to be less harsh on the skin than classic SLS.

Which leads me to my next point- the goat milk cleanser is so gentle and comforting to use it's unreal, so I imagine it would be absolutely brilliant if you've overdone it with your active skincare (acids, retinols etc) and need something that is not going to disturb your skin in the slightest. All in all, I love this cleanser. It is a high end brand so comes with the price tag to match at £32 for 120ml but my word it is glorious. You can find it at Space NK* or Kate Somerville.

Sister & Co True Cleanse

There's something quite special about an oil cleanse and this offering from cult brand Sister & Co Skin Food is no exception. Sister & Co are well known for their 100% natural line of skin, body, hair and oral health products and are hugely popular with green beauty fans in particular. They first grabbed my attention with the release of their Raw Coconut & Activated Charcoal Tooth Whitening Polish and since then I've kept one beady eye on the brand to see what they come up with next. Their newest release is True Cleanse Oil, which, you guessed it, is a rather beautiful cleansing oil. Suitable for all skin types, True Cleanse is a decadent blend of cold pressed organic Jojoba, Apricot and Grapeseed oils and is infused with Rose Otto and Frankincense. The oil has a very delicate scent and is designed to be massaged onto a dry face and then removed with the supplied organic muslin cloth. By cleansing the skin this way, make up and general muck is removed and you get a nice physical exfoliation as well, so it's a two-for-one job really.

I don't generally wear a lot of makeup day to day but I recently went out to celebrate my sister's birthday so I did have a full face of slap to remove at the end of the evening. This was a great opportunity to try True Cleanse's make up removing abilities and it did not disappoint. Unlike a lot of cleansing balms and oils, True Cleanse does not emulsify when water is added, so you really do need to use the supplied muslin or a flannel if you prefer, to properly remove the oil. I love oil cleansers and enjoy using ones that rinse away easily just as much as oils like this one, where you need to put a bit of effort in with a damp muslin. I did this using True Cleanse with my full face of makeup and felt a smug sort of satisfaction to see all the remnants of foundation, eyeshadow and highlighter on the muslin cloth. I had been wearing a smudge-proof Bobbi Brown mascara that day and that took a little bit of patience but True Cleanse did remove it, which was pretty great because I don't like faffing with my eye area for too long. And let's be real; a separate eye makeup remover just feels like too much effort sometimes! Swiping over my face with a cotton pad with toner is always a good indicator of how well I've cleaned my face-the less muck on the cotton pad, the better job the cleanser has done. True Cleanse had all but obliterated every bit of makeup as the cotton pad was virtually filth-free. I did go in with a second pump but this oil really did do a brilliant job with just the one go.
It's worth noting that the oil comes with a screw cap and is supplied with a pump as well as the aforementioned muslin cloth.

Sister and Co only use exceptionally high quality oils and at £30 the price point reflects this. If you like your skincare 'clean' and appreciate natural and organic ingredients, then True Cleanse would be a great addition to your stash. You can find True Cleanse and other Sister & Co products online at Sister & Co,  ASOS, Liberty, Fenwick, Selfridges and Anthropologie.

True Cleanse Ingredients:
Ingredients: Prunus armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil*, Vitis vinifera (Grapeseed) Seed Oil*, Simmondsia chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil*, Boswellia carterii (Frankincense) Oil, Tocopherol (Natural Vitamin E), Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Rosa damascena (Rose) flower extract, Limonene**, Linalool ** *certified organic ingredient **natural constituent of essential oil.

Trilogy Age Proof Collection

I'm sure I remember buying a dropper bottle of Trilogy Rosehip Oil years and years ago from a little boutique pharmacy when I was still in Australia. It must have been about 8 or 9 years ago and even back then Trilogy was the brand when it came to Rosehip Oil. Trilogy is a Kiwi brand and as with most beauty products made in New Zealand, you just know the quality is going to be high- it's almost a given when you think about the beautiful flora and fauna the country produces. From the much loved Manuka Honey and mineral rich volcanic muds and of course, Rosehips, NZ is almost mystical in its ability to produce natural beauty goodness. It's no surprise then that Trilogy is New Zealand's number 1 skincare brand and has developed somewhat of a cult following around the world now too. Since they produced those first batches of Rosehip Oil, Trilogy has gone from strength to strength and released numerous lines and ranges all based around the same principle- natural products that are concentrated, effective and unique. The latest range that I've been trying out is the reformulated Age Proof Collection, an edit of cleansers, creams and oils developed to help people everywhere 'embrace the  aging process in the same way they embrace the wisdom that comes with years'.

The reformulated collection now contains Trilogy's breakthrough new ingredient, Glycablend™ which is a blend of four plant oils, each of which target different skin concerns:

  • Pomegranate seed oil: Protects against free radical damage while promoting healthy cell metabolism
  • Blueberry seed oil: Improves circulation and aids in collagen production
  • Strawberry seed oil: An anti-inflammatory
  • Chia seed oil: Nourishing and strengthening, Chia seed oil is also anti-inflammatory and contains Omega 3 and 6

There are quite a few different products in the Age Proof Range and I've got three to show you- the Active Enzyme Cleansing Cream, CoQ10 Booster Oil and Daily Defence Moisturiser SPF15.

Active Enzyme Cleansing Cream

I don't have a great deal of experience in using cleansing 'creams' as such, but I can still tell you that this one is pretty great. Containing exfoliating fruit enzymes (papaya) and enriched with sweet almond oil and avocado oil, the Cleansing Cream is massaged into damp skin then can either be rinsed off or removed with a warm, damp flannel. I prefer the flannel/muslin removal method for extra exfoliation and so I can be certain every trace of the cleanser has been removed. I'm a bit funny like that. £27.50. Full ingredients listed below.
Aqua (Water), Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Lauryl Glucoside, Coco-Glucoside (and) Glyceryl Oleate, Jojoba Esters, Xanthan Gum, Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit Extract, Ananas Sativus (Pineapple) Fruit Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Morus Alba (Mulberry) Root Extract, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate (vitamin E), Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Chamomilla Recutita Matricaria (chamomile) Flower Extract, Althaea Officinalis (Marshmallow) Root Extract, Glycerin (Vegetable), Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Parfum, Titanium Dioxide, Citric Acid, Dehydroacetic Acid (and) Benzyl Alcohol, Benzyl Alcohol, Citronellol, Limonene, Eugenol, Farnesol, Geraniol, Linalool, Dehydroacetic Acid (and) Benzyl Alcohol

CoQ10 Booster Oil

As an avid user of facial oils, the CoQ10 Booster Oil has so far left me very impressed. Subtly scented, the reformulated face oil contains the aforementioned Glycablend™ as well as Co-Enzyme Q10 and Tamanu, Black Caraway Seed and Macadamia oils. Designed to renew radiance and smooth fine lines, the oil can be used alone, under moisturiser or mixed into your foundation for a dose of dewy goodness. Two to three drops is all I need for my (rather large) face and I prefer to apply it onto still-damp skin. £31.50. Full ingredients listed below.

Daily Defence Moisturiser SPF15

I'll level with you- I did a little internal squeal when I first tried this moisturiser. I'm usually a total lover of the dewy skin look but I remember last summer I was pining for more of a matt effect moisturiser but was hard pressed tracking one down that wasn't packed full of silicone (I don't hate silicone in skincare products but just can't deal when it feels obviously silicone-heavy). Basically, this is the moisturiser I wish I had last summer. Brimming with Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamins A, E and C, the moisturiser with added UV protection hydrate sand mattifies at the same time- absolutely perfect for warmer days when you fear the facial oil slick/don't want your foundation to slide off. Also perfect as a primer. Key ingredients include Trilogy's famous certified organic Rosehip Oil, Evening Primrose Oil and anti-inflammatory Licorice Root Extract. £29.50. Full ingredients below.

Liberty Beauty Advent Calendar Reveal #24

Eve Lom Cleanser
Drawer number 24 holds a fabulous gift for Christmas Eve - a pot of the iconic Eve Lom Cleanser.
This is actually the first balm cleanser I ever tried nearly ten years ago and I remember how much I loved the ritual of following the little instruction sheet that came with it and massaging the balm in using the different techniques and then wiping it away with the warm damp cloth. It does contain mineral oil, but this balm doesn't cause me any issues whatsoever. It's quite nice to be reunited with a first love on Christmas Eve.
It's £55 for 100ml at Liberty here.
